Remains of the Day: Steam Moves Beyond Games, Will Add Other Apps to Its Online Store Steam will be adding other apps besides games to its online store, Google Translate for Android updates with image translation, Microsoft is rumored to be dropping “Metro” from its Windows 8 vocabulary, and YouTubes built-in editor gets revamped.



  • Steam Expands Beyond Games Steam, the expansive online game store, has announced that they’re expanding this fall to include other types of software. The store will include software “ranging from creativity to productivity”, and will take advantage of a lot of Steam’s existing features like automatic updating, cloud storage for settings and files, and more.   • CyanogenMod 9 – Stable After months of work, the CyanogenMod team will be releasing CyanogenMod 9 as a stable release later tonight, which will conclude their Ice Cream Sandwich support (aside from critical bugfixes).
